Military authorities posted a picture of rescuers in Kyiv

In a devastating incident, two innocent children and an adult lost their lives, while over a dozen individuals sustained injuries, as Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, was targeted in a night-time missile attack. Ukrainian officials have reported that Russia has been consistently subjecting the city to aerial assaults using missiles and drones.

The recent wave of attacks occurred specifically in the Desnyanskyi and Dniprovskyi districts in the eastern part of the city. While the precise details of the deceased and injured are still being determined, the provided information is based on preliminary reports from Ukrainian authorities.

This marks the fourth attack within this week alone, adding to the alarming tally of 17 attacks throughout May. Most of these attacks have occurred during the cover of darkness, although at least one incident took place during daylight hours.

Heart-wrenching images shared by military authorities depict rescue teams diligently attending to the injured victims and surveying the damage caused to buildings. Early morning updates on Telegram by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko highlighted a series of explosions that rocked the city, resulting in fallen debris and fires that required immediate attention. According to his statement, 14 individuals sustained injuries, with nine of them requiring hospitalization.

Meanwhile, Russian-backed officials in the occupied portion of Ukraine's eastern Luhansk region reported that five individuals were killed and 19 were injured due to Ukrainian shelling at a farm on Wednesday.

Over the past weeks, Russia, which initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, has employed kamikaze drones, as well as various cruise and ballistic missiles, to target locations within Ukraine. Kyiv, in particular, has faced relentless attacks, leading analysts to believe that Moscow aims to weaken and exhaust Ukraine's air defenses in anticipation of an anticipated counter-offensive, which the Ukrainian government has been strategizing for months.
